Strategy and Preparation Tips
Correct your basics for every section
The foremost step to crack CAT is to know and understand the exam pattern and syllabus. After knowing your exam pattern and syllabus, focus on your basic concepts. Stop jumping from one topic to another, unless you have the clarity with the fundamentals of that topics. Devote at least three hour daily for your preparation of CAT 2016. Throw your calculator away and try to grow the habit of mental calculations. You can even practice NCERT books of Class 6 to 10 to get your basics right. Make a flexible time table for study. Study something that your heart wants and don’t be rigid.
Take Analyzed Mock Tests
After preparing your basics, start taking mock tests as these will help you to access your standing. Start taking one proctored mock and one previous year mock, analyze it very thoroughly. Don’t get disappointed by mock results in the initial phase but analyze each mock test that you take. The results of these mock tests helps you to work on weak areas and further polish your strengths. Also, these mock tests will help you learn time management skills and you will know your pluses and minuses which will improve your speed and accuracy gradually.
Analyze your Strenghts & Weaknesses
Once you know about CAT, analyze your strengths & weaknesses and measure how much time you may be required to devote to your weak areas. You will have to study and practice more on your weak points and on the other hand there may be a few topics where you are stronger enough and you may need less revision and practice sessions. Strategically, you must find out such weak areas and segregate them from the strong ones.

Double Degree/ Joint Degree- A trend with Benefits

In today’s economic landscape, Education is becoming more important than ever before. The competition is growing for good jobs and employees are being asked to do more in less time with less resource. To go ahead, people are looking for high in demand courses such as MBA, B.Tech, LAW etc. But the education is not industry centric. To make it industry centric, several universities across the state and country have begun offering flexible dual degree and integrated courses like management and human resources goes with engineering programmes, law courses is available with BA etc. There is much value in this cross-departmental collaboration.

Some of the country's prestigious institutions have taken the lead in introducing integrated programmes, thus setting a trend for others to follow. Because of these integrated courses, students can develop expertise in two separate fields or leverage technical expertise in one field with another. The premier institutes in this filed are; The IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) offer a five-year M.Tech dual degree course in different engineering branches.

BITS, Pilani, Goa, Bangalore and Hyderabad Campuses offer dual degree options wherein a candidate can complete their engineering along with their M.Sc (Hons). In this way, management education integrated with engineering, architecture and pharmacy, offers huge opportunities to students.

“One thing you need to consider and realize is that integrating your degree adds two whole years to your experience.” says Sidhartha Rastogi, professor of Economics at IIT Indore. However, the benefits don’t stop there. There is an advantage of pursuing dual degree is that you don't have to take an entrance exam twice. Another advantage is that these programs are easily customized and grant students flexibility in determining their areas of study. In addition, the joint degrees give candidates greater access to resources like professors, cost & time benefits, and opportunities than they would have in a single program.

Dual degree courses seem to be in thing for youngsters today, with thousands of students looking for hitting two birds with one stone. Considering the advantageous of a double degree programme and how you will expand your knowledge and experience, it is definitely a great way to complete two degrees at a time.
