Dual Degree In Engineering Or Management-Great Way To Set Up Your Career

In today’s fast growing world, dual degrees look like a trend among the scholars with an aim to hit two birds with one stone. As the name implies, a dual degree program is two degree awarded in the limited time period. It likes, a person getting Bachelors and Masters in the same program but in a minimum time frame. The dual degree B.Tech and M.Tech dual degree requires 5 years of education but if these courses were to be taken up individually, they would require 6 years of education.

An engineering degree topped with an MBA stream from reputed colleges – a classic recipe for success in the corporate world. If an engineering degree combines with management degree, play an important role in the next generation of managers in the technical sector. No wonder then, a majority of engineering scholars will undoubtedly take this route to scale up the corporate sector.

All about Dual Degree

Dual Degree In Engineering Or Management-Great Way To Set Up Your Career
Joint degree programme is not an unknown concept in the Indian Educational System. These programmes have been around for a while. In the last few years, the country has witnessed a huge surge in the number of joint degree courses, largely in private educational sector. Understanding the growing needs of specialized higher education, many engineering or management colleges are offering integrated degree programmes in several fields. For example, IIT’s offers double degree in M.Tech — PhD courses.

Other private colleges like BITS- Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad colleges offer joint degree options wherein an aspirant can complete their engineering with management. Every year, nearly 2 lakh students give BITSAT to enter one of the most respected universities of India-Bits Pilani for dual degree courses. Bits-Pilani with nearly 2000 seats (including all campuses) offers two types of degrees-B.E and Msc (Dual degree).

Dual Degree in Engineering and MBA:

Getting a BE/B.Tech degree along with the topping of MBA normally takes five years. If you do BE/B.Tech and then after MBA it will take six years. However, if you wrap up both the degrees in five years under a dual degree programme, you save an entire year. Dual degree in engineering and MBA covers both technology and management. Engineering with management is a specialized and highly demanded growing sector. During an engineering course, students develop industrial engineering skills, technical knowledge and expertise, alongside knowledge of business and management techniques, strategies and concerns.

There are several combinations of dual degree courses. Some of them are:

Dual degrees in Computer Science and Engineering by Indian Institute of Technology's

M.Tech + PhD dual degrees by IITs

B.E with M.Sc (Hons) by BITS – Pilani, Goa & Hyderabad campuses

B.Tech and MBA in Computer Science and Engineering, Telecommunication and Engineering and Electronics Engineering by South Asia International Institute, Hyderabad

5 year Integrated Programme in B. Tech & M. Tech by South Asia International Institute, Hyderabad

2 year M.Tech/ M.Sc program in Software Engineering, Signal Processing and Telecommunication by Blekinge Institute of Technology in partnership with Andhra University & by JNTU-Hyderabad and JNTU-Kakinada

Pursuing two degrees at the same time does not imply that students have to manage double course load. Most joint degree programmes offered by engineering or management colleges are structured to enable scholars to focus and balance between the joint degrees.
