Joint degree programme is not an unknown concept in the Indian Educational System. These programmes have been around for a while. In the last few years, the country has witnessed a huge surge in the number of joint degree courses, largely in private educational sector. Understanding the growing needs of specialized higher education, many engineering or management colleges are offering integrated degree programmes in several fields. For example, IIT’s offers double degree in M.Tech — PhD courses.

Other private colleges like BITS- Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad colleges offer joint degree options wherein an aspirant can complete their engineering with management. Every year, nearly 2 lakh students give BITSAT to enter one of the most respected universities of India-Bits Pilani for dual degree courses. Bits-Pilani with nearly 2000 seats (including all campuses) offers two types of degrees-B.E and Msc (Dual degree).

Dual Degree in Engineering and MBA:

Getting a BE/B.Tech degree along with the topping of MBA normally takes five years. If you do BE/B.Tech and then after MBA it will take six years. However, if you wrap up both the degrees in five years under a dual degree programme, you save an entire year. Dual degree in engineering and MBA covers both technology and management. Engineering with management is a specialized and highly demanded growing sector. Pursuing two degrees at the same time does not imply that students have to manage double course load. Most joint degree programmes offered by engineering or management colleges are structured to enable scholars to focus and balance between the joint degrees.
