Top 5 advantages of Government Jobs over Private Jobs

http://www.collegescan.in/

State Bank of India (SBI) recently announced the notification for the post of Probationary Officer (PO). Last year for 2000 vacancies around 22 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. If the trends are taken in -to consideration, around 2.2 million students are expected to sit for the first time happening preliminary examination. Every year, lots of government organizations received applications from graduation, post graduation and Ph.D holders in response to notifications issued by them. Why is there so much craze for government jobs?

A few days ago, I was talking to a group of fresh graduates of a reputed institute— engineers and MBAs. I asked them about their dream job and I was surprised when they said that they would prefer any government job, especially a in a State government organization. Now the scenario of the job market has completely changed. About 20 years ago, job-seekers were desperate to join top private corporations and MNCs. They were eager to work with the private institutions in diverse sectors such as pharma, retail, IT and ITeS companies. But now the scenario has changed reversely.

The reason behind is flexible working environments, several perks and fixed incentives; who doesn’t want a job with all these benefits? If you are one of those who would like to have a comforting work environment with a stable moving career, a job in the government sector may be the best option for you.

Although there are many minus points in govt. jobs but there are many plus points as well which will make you think why you should work in a government job.

Let’s start with the pros of making a career in the government sector. Though jobs in this sector are comparatively fewer in number as compared to private jobs but the competition for job seekers in the government sector is extreme.

1.) Job Security
This is the biggest advantage of Govt. job. Being a government employee has generous advantageous: job stability is one of the most important among all. While private sectors are prone to layoffs and we have very well witnessed layoffs in the past during the time of recession. In the government organization, the situation of the employees are remain same.

2.) On time Salary
This is the next significant point. Whether the country is in great economic depression or floating on the top, it does not matter. In both these cases, you will get your salary on time. But, in a private job a person will get his salary only if company is making profit, when company stops making profit then no salary for employees.

3.) Pay Structure
This is the most important factor for any job searching individual. After the introduction of 7th pay commission, the pay that a government employee gets is in par with the corporate sector and I don’t think that you would have anything to complain about here!!

4.) Promotion
It is an important factor that a job seeker takes into account. In govt. jobs”promotion” is always based on the service period. The longer you work, the higher are the promotional opportunities.

5.) Lot of Free Time with Relaxing Environment

Jobs in the govt. sectors have stress free working environment. The workload is almost negligible, which allows employees to enjoy in a relaxing environment. The best part is that even if the work load is too much, the time-frame to complete the work is negotiable. Contrary to this, the private company employees always have a stressful work life both in office and home.

To conclude, the main advantageous of working with govt. organizations is the reputation associated with it on a whole as well as the diverse opportunities coming up in recent times due to stellar growth of Indian Economy.
